My IS101 First Impressions

This is my first year, second semester at CSN, so I am still rather new to the college experience. Starting up a new class in a new semester is scary at first, but after the first few Webex meets with either the class or the instructor himself, I started feeling more confident in myself and this class. I like the fact that Instructor Wu goes out of his way to text his students on their phones. I find it to be a quick and effective way to contact his students, I was able to easily set up a Webex meeting with him. My first impressions with the class and the instructor were great, but lets hope I can leave a good first impression. It may be hard because my bad habit of procrastination, but that is my goal this year, to get over that bad habit.

  1. Very glad to hear you are feeling more confident in yourself and IS101 :-)

I used to be a procrastinator when I was a college student but I learned to be more proactive and self-driven instead of letting someone or something else drive what and when I do.

    Welcome to IS101-2003, Spring 2021, Jayden ^_^

  2. Ah, yes. Procrastination! I am too familiar with that kind of self-sabotage. However, some of the best work can come out of it! It is probably best, though, to jump ahead because there's also immense gratification in getting things out of the way and having time for leisure afterwards.

  3. WebEx is a lot easier than I thought. You are right in my opinion I try not to procrastinate because it will make me fall behind. Good luck to you in the class.

  4. I commend you! I can't imagine starting college during a pandemic and not having in-class courses! Best of luck to you, and if it makes you feel any better we all procrastinate.

  5. Don't worry college is so much better than high school. There's a lot less immature people in college, but the work load is also a lot more in my opinion. Anyway, I hope you'll have a great semester LOL.

  6. I also like how Professor Wu goes out of his way to text his students. I am still trying to get myself in the habit of checking my email daily but texting is much more convenient for me since I use my phone more and it's in my sight most of the day.

  7. Agreed. Procrastination is the worst enemy to achieve goals in school or in life in general. My attitude for this semester is "Just do it"! Especially when the instructor is really available and hands on - like Professor Wu, I believe we can brake the barriers and excuses and get it done.
    Good luck Jayden:)

  8. I completely agree, I definitely felt a bit more confident after the first WebEx meeting. Still getting there though. I know I'm really gonna feel it if we start going back to campus though. Freshman jitters all over again. And I too deeply appreciate Professor Wu's willingness to go above and beyond to contact, and make himself available for his students.

  9. The initial WebEx meeting really set the tone for this class. It speaks volumes about Professor Wu's ability to fill his student with confidence. A wonderful trait to have in a teacher

  10. I too sometimes struggle with procrastination and I found that having a set goal and planning time out in the day to get stuff done helps me. If I know when I am supposed to start on my homework I will do everything that I want to do before then.

  12. Professor Wu is absolutely determined in assisting us. I understand that feeling of procrastination. The WebEx has proven to be a great tool for this class.
