IS 101

I have officially finished my first year of online college at CSN. My first semester I had 3 classes, and only 1 had weekly class meetings. But last semester I took 4 classes and tried classes with more online meets.

However out of all my online classes I have taken so far, my IS 101 class instructed by Mr. Albert Wu, has by far had the most impact on me.

At first, I had thought negatively about the class because the fact that face cams were required, but I had later realized I began liking it and it was the closest you can get to an in-person class.

My overall experience with IS 101 with Albert Wu has been amazing and is my favorite online college class by far. I am proud of myself and my achievements in the class, but I do know I could have done better. Mr. Wu has surprised me, with the amount of hard work he puts into his students to ensure they pass. It has been a great semester and I am glad I took this class.

Summer Plans

So what's everyone's plans this summer? This summer my family and I plan on going to California again for a nice long vacation, for at least a week, maybe two. Although the main reason we have been going to California the past couple years is because my younger brother had a spinal surgery a few years ago. So every summer we have been going to the children's hospital in San Diego for check-ups, and after that we relax in Cali for a week. Hopefully my brother can get better without any problems.

MOS-300

This weekend on Saturday I took my PowerPoint MOS-300 exam. I can't remember my exact score, 970 something, but it was up there! Professor Wu said I had tied with Briceyda in top scores. I'm really proud of myself and my classmates, and I wanna thank Professor Wu for teaching me and having to deal with my procrastination. I have officially become a MOS associate!

More Family Fun

Recently now that everyone has been getting vaccines, my families have been comfortable enough to host family gatherings and dinners. Ever since my uncle came back home early after serving 12 years in a 29 year sentence (for a crime that should not have been 29 years long), we have been getting together a lot now and playing games together. We all bought some Splat-R-Ball blasters, 4 total, which shoot little orbeez. They were basically automatic BB guns, but wet gelatin bullets and we just blasted each other, it was great. Really glad we are able to safely get together without worrying about a dumb virus. Hopefully everyone else can do the same now, and get together with family and friends.

Blogging

So what is everyone's take on blogger? I have had a nice experience with it, although I have only been using it for the sake of the class. Sadly I don't think I will see myself in the future posting more on blogger or any other social media sites. I have always been the shy type and it is weird in my eyes posting everything about myself online. I don't really have much to talk about or brag about. I did like personalizing and editing the blogger home page though.

What are your experiences with blogger? Will any one else continue to use blogger? Or do you maybe use a different platform already?

My Experience

Now that everyone else is beginning to get their vaccine shots, I am now hearing lots of different stories about their experiences during the shots. Like for example Rudy's experience, when he regained some of his peripheral vision back, I thought that was very interesting and crazy. When I went to get my shots, it was in the large Summerlin retirement home area, and the funny thing is, I was by far the youngest there. Besides my dad, who went with me, everyone else was 70 and above. It almost felt wrong, like I was cheating, being there. I almost passed out in the 15 minute wait period during the first shot, that was fun. But it was a fun experience over all, had some laughs here and there.

A Nice Family Dinner

Today me and my family went to my Grandma's 77th birthday party. It was just a nice little family dinner, nothing special because she had recently had knee surgery and is stuck home. It was a nice little break from the lockdown and being stuck home all the time. I was able to play with my cousins and my nieces and nephews. Now that my older cousins are getting married, children just seem to be popping up everywhere. It was a fun night, we are going over again in two weeks to hangout and more play games with them.

Thoughts on the Vaccine

I guess I was luck enough to get a chance to get the vaccine for covid about a month ago. I didn't have any problems with it, just felt slight pain in the arm after both shots, and felt sick for a day after the second one, but its different for everyone. I have heard some crazy stories regarding the vaccine, nothing of concern has happened to me yet. My question is, how different is it from other vaccines like the flu vaccine? (I don't know much about anything medical, please don't judge me) In the end, I am just relieved my family and I are healthy.

My New Favorite Game

I picked up a new game back in September that has really kept me busy during the whole quarantine thing, that apparently will never end. I started playing a game called Genshin Impact, and it was the first anime style game I've ever played. I started playing it the day it came out, and I think I'm addicted. Without fail, I have been playing around 1-3 hours everyday, and I'm surprised I'm not burnt out already. (My UID is 603084737 if anyone that plays wants to add me)

I'm really glad I have something to do (other than school) every day and love doing it.
Does anyone else have something they love doing or playing during the quarantine that they are just unable to quit?

Schools Openning Back Up?

So recently I heard that some schools began to open face to face classes Monday March 22nd? I may be wrong, but I do know my younger brother, who is currently doing online classes for Centennial HS had a choice of going to school again or staying home. He stuck with staying home because he still felt uncomfortable about going to school, my parents were OK with it though. I think if I had the choice to go back to face to face, I would take it. I would mostly want to take it because it is getting lonely around here, doing nothing much but hiding away at home and doing online school and playing video games. Although, I do like being able to sleep and wake up whenever you want to, with no set bed time.

Excited for Excel

When starting this class I was most excited to start with excel. I was most uncomfortable with Excel out of all other softwares, it looked so alien to me in high school when I ever had to use it. I think Excel will be an excellent skill to learn for the future. I'm glad we learned Word first because Excel has a very simular layout, making it so much easier to learn Excel. I think it will take some time before I can memorize all the formulas and what not. I have seen some examples of very detailed and confusing worksheets that I would love to create. Very excited to try to receive my Excel certification.

The MOS Exam

I am very excited to take this exam, I believe after taking the practice exams and skill reviews, I have actually learned a lot from this class and am able to do things I couldn't a couple months ago. I think I can do a decent job on this exam and hope everyone else can too.

Camping in Utah

Up in Utah many years ago,  my Grandparents and relatives owned (Not sure if they sold it or not) a large property with a beautiful log cabin with a large pond near it and it was surrounded by tall white birch trees. On summer breaks we would take my dad's side of the family, just less than 20 people, and we would camp for a week or two. The cabin only had two bedrooms and a large loft with many cots to sleep on, which were surprisingly comfy. My favorite part about the cabin was a fire pole in the center that came from the loft to the kitchen, and every morning us kids would ride the pole down instead of taking the stairs.  Just outside the cabin was a large pond that we would fish from almost every day we were there. The main property with the cabin was large, but it also opened up to an even bigger property that was well over 100 acres, and we had couple quad bikes and a buggy and would drive around exploring the property for hours. We did so many fun things there in Utah that I wish we could go back sometime.

My Very Productive Covid Quarantine

My overall experience with this covid quarantine wasn't horrible, I guess it was boring at some points, but at least I got to stay home for several months. It started in my senior year of high school causing the year to end early, and thankfully on my end finals were also canceled. One thing covid actually relieved me from was my grad walk, I did NOT want to do it. Although there was no way I was going to really skip my grad walk and hurt my parents feelings. So covid came along and prevented large gatherings, resulting in a grad walk with a max of at least 30 of us. So yea, a huge relief. After that high school was officially over and summer hit. I did the usual over summer break, like sleeping, playing video games, and playing sports. I was planning to get a job over the summer but whatever. Finally, I started my first of college and I have been liking it so far. My first year of college is almost over, only a few more.

My Favorite Sport

My all time favorite sport is Soccer. I have been playing soccer my whole life and I wish to continue. Although soccer is my favorite, I never watch any professional games, nor do I watch any other sports like super bowl. I was never competitive enough to tryout in high school, and looking back I kinda wish I did. I would have liked to experience high school sports. Covid is a real downer because it ruins chances to play with my friends.

Week One!

Week 1 is already over! I think the first week was a great, and successful start to this class. I feel like I'm already learning a lot about Microsoft Word. I was always a Google Docs person throughout high school and such, I would never find myself using Word. However after this first week, I can already see how much professional your documents can look with Microsoft Word. I am excited to get into Word and learn how to make my own professional document.

My IS101 First Impressions

This is my first year, second semester at CSN, so I am still rather new to the college experience. Starting up a new class in a new semester is scary at first, but after the first few Webex meets with either the class or the instructor himself, I started feeling more confident in myself and this class. I like the fact that Instructor Wu goes out of his way to text his students on their phones. I find it to be a quick and effective way to contact his students, I was able to easily set up a Webex meeting with him. My first impressions with the class and the instructor were great, but lets hope I can leave a good first impression. It may be hard because my bad habit of procrastination, but that is my goal this year, to get over that bad habit.
